The DS3800HPBD is part of the General Electric Mark IV Speedtronic series. The MKIV is the first GE Speedtronic system designed with three identical control systems that work independently of each other in a triple modular redundancy system. This type of system greatly reduces downtime.

The DS3800HPBD consists of a number of diodes, including fifty blue-green, three large silver, and one light blue diode. In addition, there are about forty-five resistors on the circuit board. Each resistor is different in size and color, and has a different number of different colored bands. These bands tell each resistor how many ohms it can handle.

The DS3800HPBD board also has a large female connector port along the left edge of the board, and two gray clamps on the other side.
